Position: Entry Level Welder / Grinder - 1st shift
Team: Fabrication Team
Primary Objective of Position:
An Entry level Welder/ Grinder is responsible for cleanup and kitting of parts for welding.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Uses portable electric or air driven grinding or chipping equipment.
Assist in the loading and unloading of materials on trucks.
Lift and move materials using forklift, pallet jack, overhead crane or jib crane.
Set up and fabricate a wide variety of components using various welding processes, primarily FCAW and GMAW.
Use oxygen-acetylene, oxygen-natural gas, plasma arc and carbon-arc equipment to heat, straighten, trim and bevel ferrous and non-ferrous material.
Read drawings and routings to determine method, sequence of operation, position, tolerances and welding specifications, to include proper filler materials, fluxes and weld machine settings.
Make all necessary layouts and setups using proper tools and fabricating equipment.
Perform self-inspection and documentation of welded components.
Provide feedback on rejected welded components, and may determine disposition of rework for rejection report.
Works in other areas of the Fabrication Team skills matrix, may work in other areas fabricating and brazing.
Demonstrates a commitment to Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities in day to day work.
Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA regulations.
Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities:
1-2 year welding degree or High School degree with a minimum of 1 years relevant welding experience.
Knowledge of layouts, ability to read blueprints, perform basic math and calculate conversions.
Ability to be certified in overhead and Jib crane operations.
Ability to be certified in forklift operations.
Salary
$22.00 - $24.00
Pay Types
Voluntary weekend overtime.
Saturday is paid at time and a half, Sundays are paid at double time

Routinely uses repetitive motions including the wrists, hands or fingers to operator machinery or tools.
Occasionally moves from one work station to another to accomplish tasks.
