This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who want to start a career in diesel mechanics. You will work alongside experienced technicians and receive hands-on training in a professional shop environment.
Position Overview
As an Entry-Level Diesel Mechanic / Mechanic Trainee, you will assist with the maintenance, inspection, and repair of heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment while learning the trade under the supervision of certified mechanics. This role requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment
Perform inspections and basic diagnostics under the supervision of certified technicians
Learn to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using company training
Assist with fuel systems, brakes, suspension, and hydraulic components
Maintain accurate service and repair documentation
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and a positive attitude
Requirements
Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply
Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (automotive, equipment, farm, military, or trade school experience considered)
Strong desire to learn diesel mechanics as a long-term career
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit
Ability to work in a shop environment, including standing, lifting, and using hand tools
