We're hiring entry-level CDL-A drivers in Lyons, Vidalia and Toombs County for an OTR reefer seat. Training pays $850 a week, solo pay averages $1,300 to $1,500 a week, and you're home every two weeks.
Taking a truck job is a family decision. Here are the answers to what the people at home will ask.
"Will the bills get paid while you're training?"
Yes. Training pays $850 a week for 3 to 5 weeks (200β250 hours), every week.
"What if the first solo weeks are slow?"
The first three months solo carry a $1,000 weekly guarantee.
"What will you make after that?"
On average $1,300 to $1,500 a week on 1,900 to 2,800 miles. Short hauls add $100 flat, and there's a monthly performance bonus.
"When will we see you?"
Every two weeks.
"Is it hard on your body?"
It's reefer freight, and you don't unload.
"Can I ride along? Can the dog?"
Riders are allowed. A dog under 40 lbs is allowed once training is finished.
"What about insurance?"
After 30 days you get medical, dental, vision and prescriptions, plus a 401(k), stock purchase plan and employee assistance. You and one family member also get a free online degree.
The rest of the details
Orientation is two days or less, with the hotel covered, bus fare reimbursed and $300 once hired. Your truck is assigned and about 1.5 years old on average. Runs cover the East and Midwest, day and night, with weekend and holiday work.
Requirements
21 or older, Class A CDL
New CDL grad, or 6 months of recent experience
2 or fewer moving violations in the last 2 years
No DUI/DWI in the last 10 years
