EJ has an immediate opening for 2nd Shift Melt Utility (12:00pm -
8:30pm) Starting at $23.30 and potential up to $27.23 per hour within the first
year.

 

Shift premium is $1.50 for 2nd or 3rd shift positions.

SUMMARY Monitors and operates furnaces that melt Gray and Ductile iron used in
the casting process

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.

* Operates and maintains coreless induction furnace melting iron.
* Operates industrial crane to hoist equipment onto deck and furnace.
* Operates forklift, as needed to transport supplies and equipment.
* Skims slag from the surface of molten metal, using a slag rake and cart.
* Manually adds alloys up to 50 lbs. to the furnace during the melting process.
* Transfers molten metal from furnace to transfer ladle.
* Removes samples of iron utilizing an immersion sampler for metallurgical
analysis.
* Cleans furnaces and equipment, and repairs refractory lining utilizing air
hammers and pneumatic rammers.
* Knock out and clean all ladles using air hammers and chisels.
* Adds material to alloy bins using forklift and hoist.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or one to three
months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and
memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present
information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and
other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio,
and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or
oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete
variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those
